Pure acai is just a click away

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Getting pure acai to your doorstep can prove difficult. With the acai fruit going bad in as fast as 24 hours from the time it was picked, only inhabitants of the Amazon region have access to fresh, all-natural berries.

Where fruits and vegetables are not available raw, it is recommended to consume them in juice form. Squeezing out extracts from grapes, pineapple, orange, apple, or tomatoes require minimal processing, so you’re essentially getting the same nutrients as they were in their natural state.

The past few years, acai has gained superstar status in the United States, thanks to TV icon Oprah Winfrey who endorsed the berry on her popular talk show. Oprah featured a book written by renowned dermatologist Dr. Nicholas Perricone proclaiming the acai as the number one super food on the planet.

Now the acai is getting the recognition it truly deserves. More and more health-conscious citizens are realizing the potential of

acai as a dietary supplement. And distributors are finding more innovative ways to bring its weight loss and anti-aging benefits to your homes. One such technique is through acai preserves.

Manufacturers maintain that acai preserves contain around 99% of pure acai fruit. Spread them like jam on bread and pancakes and enjoy the delicious taste of fruit combined with chocolate syrup, without the negative side effects of sugar.

Other forms of acai such as energy bars do not afford the same benefits as juice or preserves would because many of the nutrients are lost in the processes applied to produce them.

With hundreds of acai products readily available on the Internet, there’s no need for you to hop on a plane to Brazil to gain the disease-fighting and health-boosting benefits of the acai berry.

Pure acai is just a click away from you.

Why Antioxidant Supplements and Pills Do Not Work

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

With all the antioxidant supplements and pills available to you today, how do you know if they’re going to work?

Some companies that produce antioxidant supplements and pills want you to believe that using their product over more natural ways of consuming antioxidants is a far better method to stop the oxidization of your cells. It’s a personal call that you have to make when deciding if that is true or not, but if you read the labels on the bottles of these supplements, they will say that their claims were not substantiated by the FDA, and that their product was not intended to treat, cure, or prevent any disease. So how do you know if the supplements and pills are going to work?

In general, antioxidants are meant to slow down the oxidizing processes that cause damage to cells. Although it is a normal function of the body, it may also be damaging and increase risks of certain illnesses. So, taking antioxidants would be a smart thing to do, but it’s how you go about it that will make all the difference.

Foods rich in antioxidants like acai berries, pomegranates, and carrots have been determined, in many studies, to lower the risk of heart disease and high cholesterol. Everyone knows that eating plenty of fruits and vegetables are good for you, but not everyone likes them and opts for the supplements and pills. The biggest deterrent of getting your antioxidants in pill or supplement form is that the quality and quantity of the vitamins and nutrients found in natural foods are far greater than any pill. Some studies have shown that people who prefer the supplements over naturally acquiring them had a higher risk of heart disease and strokes.

It’s best to keep in mind that these supplements are not drugs, and by no means can offer any guarantees. Through the many studies performed on them, it has been proven time and again that these antioxidant supplements contribute no health benefit to your body. Don’t be one of the people who look for the easy way out. Rewards often come with hard work and a good diet.

The 5 Best Antioxidant Foods

Monday, January 12th, 2009

In order to live a healthier lifestyle, one must eat a diet rich in high antioxidants.

Everywhere you go today, you hear that eating a diet rich in high-antioxidant foods is the best path to take in order to embrace a healthier lifestyle. By eating several portions of fruits and vegetables a day, your body will work at its peak, conditional level. Many people want to know which foods are the highest in antioxidants, and we’ve supplied you with a few suggestions of the five best antioxidant foods.

Berries are the king of antioxidants. Acai, blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are all very high in antioxidants with acai berries being at the top. The richer in color the berry appears, the higher the level of antioxidants. Acai berries, as well as the others, contain Vitamins A, B, C, and E that help improve a person’s immune system.

Grapes are another good source of antioxidants. It is suggested to consume them fresh or in juice rather than in wine for obvious reasons. Look to eat a grape that is redder in color than white for they have higher nutritional levels than lighter shades of grapes.

Broccoli is among the highest-rated vegetable when it comes to nutrients and antioxidants. It is a cruciferous vegetable that has high levels of Vitamin C and calcium, even more so than oranges and milk. Many people are surprised to learn that broccoli contains many disease-fighting chemicals that have been known to lower the risk of many types of cancer. It’s best to eat broccoli raw or steamed to take full advantage of its nutritious properties.

Garlic is an odorous, multi-faceted antioxidant that people have been using to flavor their meals for years. Garlic contains selenium, iodine, calcium, zinc, Vitamins A, B, and C, and many more beneficial minerals and nutrients. It has been used throughout the centuries as an antibiotic, a catalyst for decreasing blood pressure and cholesterol, and even a preventative measure to cancer.

Tomatoes have been labeled as the most ingenious anti-cancer food due to the lycopene that they contain. Lycopene has been known to be a more powerful disease fighter than beta carotene or Vitamin E. Tomatoes can be consumed in any form to reap the benefits of their nutritious value.

By incorporating these high-antioxidant foods into your diet, your health will soar to maximum capacity. Remember to eat fresh foods as often as possible and you will feel the benefits of making decisions that can improve your health.

Highest ORAC Value Food

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

By eating high-ORAC foods, the aging process will slow in both brain and body.

ORAC, or oxygen radical absorbance capacity, is a way to measure antioxidant levels in certain foods. It was developed by a doctor who studied the aging effect and found that by eating plenty of high ORAC foods, the aging process appeared to slow in both the brain and body. After looking at studies done on the average person’s diet, most people eat considerably less ORAC units than the daily recommendation. This inevitably will lead to chronic illnesses and disease.

The food highest on the ORAC list is the acai berry. This amazing berry is packed full of nutrients, minerals, and essential antioxidants. Consuming the antioxidant supplement in liquid form provides you with the highest concentration of the acai and is the freshest and easiest way for the body to absorb it.

Other food products that are high on the ORAC scale are ground cinnamon, red kidney beans, pecans, blueberries, and tomatoes. These fruits, vegetables, and legumes are just a very brief list of the numerous foods that are high in antioxidants. However, the higher they’re listed on the ORAC scale, the higher level of antioxidant capacity they contain. It is also suggested that you get your daily recommendation of antioxidants from natural foods over supplements. Acai juice is a good food source since it is 100% pure in nature and very high in antioxidants.

Anyone that increases their intake of fruits and vegetables that are high in the ORAC scale will find themselves in better health and feeling great. Adding a product like acai berry juice can only intensify your body’s optimal free-radical fighting process. You will find this great acai juice a tasty little surprise that gives you a kick with the extra energy it stimulates in your body. So live a healthier lifestyle by creating a diet rich in high ORAC foods and using acai berry juice and you’ll be feeling younger before you know it.

Acai Juice: The New Fountain of Youth

Friday, December 19th, 2008

For those of you who wish to fight against premature aging due to free radicals like pollution and cigarette smoke, then you may want to give acai berry juice a try.

Acai berry juice is loaded with high levels of antioxidants like Vitamin C and E, and contains many more vitamins and nutrients that can only make you healthier. Many of the harmful free radicals that cause damage to our bodies can be easily fended off by consuming acai berry juice daily.

You will find a number of juice drinks that assist in the fight of free radicals and are loaded with antioxidants as well, but you won’t find any that can compare to the acai fruit. Acai extracts are far more potent than noni juice or mangosteen, and if taken regularly, can help fight off the flu and colds. It is now considered the number one superfood out there, and the high concentrated levels of nutrients and vitamins help fight and improve other conditions as well.

Aging, heart disease, high cholesterol, insomnia, skin problems, and digestive problems are just some of the ailments that acai berries can aid. The omega fats, calcium, amino acids, and enzymes found in the berries make it possible to feel an improvement when having any of these conditions. The berries themselves are low in sugar, so they are safe for any diabetic to use, and have no side effects that can be harmful to your health.

Acai juice is recommended over any powder or pill form of the berry. The reason for this is that there are higher levels of antioxidants in the extracts, and therefore, you will get more for your money.

To experience the full benefits of acai, take only juice drinks that are made of 100% organic acai extracted from the heart of the Amazon.

Don’t Believe the Hype About Vitamins and Antioxidants

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Every once in a while, you’ll find a sudden buzz in the air surrounding a new substance or product that is supposed to promise you the world. When it comes to the quick fix, and especially when dealing with health issues, people tend to jump before they educate themselves and often end up spending enormous amounts of money on a product with pretty packaging, yet laden with false claims.

However, the question that still lingers in everyone’s minds is, are vitamins and antioxidants really a good solution to achieving optimal health?

Many studies have been done to try and solve the queries of the masses, and the results were not as near pleasant as some of the supplement ads tend to want you to believe. Many of the vitamin and antioxidant manufacturers suggest that a person can reduce their risk of heart disease. The truth is that there is no medical evidence, nor literature, to support these hopeful claims. There were a few cases in the study where there was a marked reduction in cardiovascular disease and other chronic illnesses, but these were from participants who ate a diet rich in foods that were high on the ORAC scale. In other words, antioxidants can be effective, but you’ll get better results from eating them fresh instead of in a capsule form.

To keep your body in tip-top shape, stick to a diet rich in foods that are high on the ORAC scale, such as the acai berry. Take multivitamins, exercise and stay active.

Fight aging and disease with antioxidants from acai berries

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Free radicals are harmful molecules that arise from aerobic respiration, metabolism, and inflammation. They can also come from environmental factors such as pollution, sunlight, strenuous exercise, X-rays, smoking and alcohol.

As we age, cell parts damaged by free radicals accumulate. This is where antioxidants play an important role. Antioxidants attack free radicals and prevent premature aging and chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis.

There are two types of antioxidants: dietary and enzymes.

Dietary antioxidants can be found naturally in fruits and vegetables. Vitamin A, C, and E, lycopene, selenium, and flavonoids are some examples of dietary antioxidants.

Antioxidants are consumed every day and most people do not even realize it. Berries, carrots, pomegranates, garlic, and tomatoes are all great sources of antioxidants.

Acai berries are said to contain the highest antioxidant levels than any other food on the planet. These miraculous berries have properties that assist the body in improving its immune system, digestive system, and even helping those with insomnia. Many use it to aid inflammation and lower cholesterol, but it has not been approved by the FDA as a medicinal treatment for disease.

Increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet increases the amount of antioxidants in your body. The healthier you eat, the better you will look and feel. The high quantity of vitamin E in acai berries will make your skin glow, and nails and hair strong. You will feel your energy levels increase as well, and may start to notice some weight loss over time.

There are endless antioxidant health benefits from acai berries. But they can be hard to obtain because the acai fruit can only be picked in Brazil, and exporting them fresh is impossible with its high rancidity.

Fighting necrosis: take acai for a longer, healthier life

Fighting necrosis: take acai for a longer, healthier life

Cells in the human body die and are replaced daily. There are two ways for a cell to die: apoptosis and necrosis.

Apoptosis is a process where aging or damaged cells in your body signal for a white blood cell to come along and completely recycle them, leaving no leftover parts of the cells to damage other cells.

When a white blood cell doesn’t come along and recycle cells properly, the cells break up and become free radicals which lead to cancer, heart disease, arthritis, tumors and all forms of aging.

Theoretically if you stop necrosis from taking place in your body, you’ve stopped aging completely and you can live forever.

Of course, that’s impossible. But there are antioxidants found in nature that can serve as our defense against necrosis. Antioxidants block or soak up the free radicals.

There are thousands of antioxidant compounds out there but they’ve always been found in very small concentrations. Until six years ago, when the most concentrated source of antioxidants in the world was finally discovered – the acai berry.

Tests were run on the acai berry to determine its antioxidant levels. The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) ratings are as follows:

Strawberries: 36 per gram
Raspberries: 48 per gram
Blackberries: 53 per gram
Spray-dried acai: 64 per gram
Blueberries: 92 per gram
Cranberries: 94 per gram
Pomegranates: 105 per gram
Properly freeze-dried acai: a whopping 1,027 per gram!

Clearly, the acai berry is the most concentrated source of antioxidants on the planet.

The downside, however, is that acai berries are highly perishable. They can lose considerable amounts of its antioxidants and nutritional value in as little as 24 hours after being picked. It’s quite difficult to obtain a fresh supply of high-quality acai in the United States since the berries can only be grown in the forests of the Amazon.

Since acai berries are new to the US, not many tests have been run on them yet. But in 2006, the University of Florida made a startling discovery. Researchers placed small samples of the acai berry in a dish with living leukemia cells. The result? Extracts from the acai berries triggered apoptosis in 86 percent of the leukemia cells tested.

More trials are ongoing but researchers have already said that a cure for cancer from acai berries looks promising.

Heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and aging are all caused by necrosis. But they can be prevented or slowed down by eating large amounts of acai berries.

In the rainforests of Brazil where acai berries are grown, the natives who eat three servings a day of acai look very young and have none of the health problems that plague Americans. No cancer, no heart disease, no stroke. In fact, a 60-year-old woman there typically has no wrinkles on her face.

The acai berry is clearly the most significant source of nutrients and defense against disease and aging that humans have ever imagined.

Acai juices and powders are already flooding into every grocery store and health food store in the United States. The only question now is how to provide your loved ones with a steady supply of acai berries.

Acai 101: Everything you need to know about this phenomenal fruit

Friday, December 12th, 2008

The acai fruit has been used for centuries by the natives of the Amazon region as a detoxifying agent.

Acai berries are good for your heart. They contain anthocynanins that enable your body to produce the nitric oxide it needs to ensure good circulation. Acai berries are also full of polyphenols that are powerful heart-boosting antioxidants.

Acai berries are great for your circulatory system. Their anthocyanin content strengthens your veins, while sterols help regulate blood pressure. Strong capillaries reduce the risk of retinopathy or blindness. The acai fruit is also diabetic-friendly – it improves glucose and lipid levels and prevents macular degeneration.

With obesity becoming a ubiquitous problem in the US, the acai can be an effective tool in reducing LDL (bad cholesterol) while boosting HDL (good cholesterol).

If you are trying to lose weight, the acai fruit can help you with its rich dietary fiber content. Fiber not only improves your digestive system, it makes you feel fuller so you can resist cravings for frequent snacking.

Got insomnia? Acai improves sleep thanks to its rich vitamin B content that helps reduce stress and promote the production of serotonin and dopamine.

Having sexual dysfunction issues? The acai berry fights the effects of free radicals and pollutants which can reduce fertility and damage cells.

Acai berries are effective in fighting GERD (acid reflux disease) and asthma, treating ulcers, and preventing prostate enlargement. They are rich in vitamin E and C that help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. And with antioxidants, acai berries lowers the risk of stomach, lung, skin and breast cancers.

Calcium is another element that acai berries are full of. Calcium is good for your bone, preventing fractures and osteoporosis. It also helps reduce menstrual pain, strengthen teeth, and prevent gingivitis and other gum and tooth disorders.

Protein is one of the building blocks of human organs, muscles, skin, hair and nails. And acai berries can provide your body with more protein than eggs.

Take acai juice drinks with you when you work out. Acai berries boost energy and stamina, and helps in muscle function and recovery with its mineral and amino acid content. The acai’s anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce the pain and inflammation of arthritis. And Omega-3 fatty acids boost mental clarity and alertness.

Acai improves not only health but beauty. The phytosterols and anthocynanins in these berries protect skin and connective tissues from wrinkles and other damage.

Acai might not be the cure to disease, but by supplying your body with all of the nutrition it needs, it helps your body to heal itself.

The University of Florida recommends acai berries for leukemia treatment

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

As it stands, the University of Florida is the only group in the United States to perform any kind of research on this remarkable berry and the benefits that it holds. The acai berry is growing in popularity due to the remarkable health improvements one experiences when taking the supplement and it doesn’t appear to be just a passing fad.

Researchers at the University of Florida have found that the extract from acai berries have the ability to elicit a "self-destruct" response from certain types of cancer cells, in specific, leukemia cells. This doesn’t mean that they have discovered a new cure for the tragic disease, but because of the findings of the study, it is believed that acai berries and products that contain them provide strong health properties for people in the long run.

People who use the acai supplement will notice that the health benefits are extreme. Acai extract has been known to reduce inflammation, improve digestive issues and skin problems, help with sexual dysfunction, and even help with insomnia. This may be due to the several vitamins and nutrients that are found in the berries. Besides the high levels of antioxidants, you will also discover that they are rich in omega fats, enzymes, proteins, Vitamin A, B1, and E.

It is highly recommended to consume acai in juice form. Acai berry juice has a high concentration of pure, fresh acai extracts so you feel more energetic and healthy.
